ANADARKO – Delaware Nation Cultural Preservation Department held the Annual Bigfoot Storytelling Event on Friday, October 18, 2019, at Randlett Park. There was an amazing turnout at this year’s event! The community loves Bigfoot and the continually growing crowd in attendance at each event proves it. There are Bigfoot stories among Native people from Canada to the southern borders of the US. Bigfoot’s relation to us is through encounters and oral traditions. We know Bigfoot’s here and for many Native people, we encounter them more than we share. In a way, Native people are sort of protective of them. Bigfoot made an appearance at the event for the whole community to see! Families and friends met and posed for photos with the giant footed legend. If you weren’t snapping photos with Bigfoot, you were probably enjoying one of the many great activities/booths, such as: bounce houses, pumpkin painting, face painting, cornhole, hayride, Connect 4 basketball, Bigfoot calling contest, 5k zombie run, costume contests, kettle corn pop corn, Bigfoot height challenge and many booths filled with beautiful jewelry, artifacts and tasty treats! Congratulations to all the winners of the Bigfoot Calling Contest! The winner was returning champion and Delaware Nation’s own Anne Marie Pemberton. Congratulations to Anne and to the winners of the Kids Costume Contest. The costumes were amazing! Kids showed up as Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, The Jackal, Bigfoot, headless ghouls, skeletons and more! Their hard work and attention to detail paid off. Many thanks to all of the vendors for setting up and helping make this event great. Pete Buffalohead of the Native Oklahoma Bigfoot Research Organization and the other speakers delivered amazing stories of the big, hairy, legend. Delaware Nation hopes everyone had a great time and we are looking forward to next year’s event! May everyone have a fun, frightful and safe Halloween!
