ANADARKO, OK — Mission Elementary teams up with Delaware Nation Environmental Programs to educate students on the benefits of replacing plastic water bottles with a cleaner, reusable, alternative solution; Metal Eco Warrior water bottles!

Student Support Coordinator Cherica Eckiwaudah was concerned about the number of plastic water bottles used by students. She reached out to Delaware Nation Environmental Programs to provide this educational and informational opportunity.

Environmental Programs Director Jaclyn McCasland presented an interactive slideshow presentation for the students to view while they ate their lunch. Jackie provided reasons why plastic water bottles are less beneficial to us and the environment. Students were allowed to interact by answering questions and providing engaging responses.

Jackie reiterated the fact that stainless steel water bottles are better for you. Why? According to Jackie’s educational presentation, stainless steel water bottles help you avoid BPA, they don’t contain other harmful chemicals, keep mold and other bacteria at bay, are sustainable, require fewer resources and less energy, don’t retain flavors, and tap water tastes better than bottled, they keep your water hot or cold for longer, they’re cheaper and convenient. Environmental Programs provided enough water bottles for the students at Mission to encourage ditching plastic water bottle habits.

Delaware Nation would like to thank the Mission Elementary teaching staff that coordinated with Environmental Programs in making this event a tremendous success! Wanìshi!
