HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAM
Description: This program is for enrolled Delaware Nation citizens that are interested in obtaining an undergraduate (Associates or Bachelors) degree from an accredited institution.
Award: $3,000 (Pell eligible) and $6,000 (Pell ineligible)
Deadlines:

Competed applications must be submitted within the first 6 weeks from the semester start date.

Requirements:
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation Citizen
  • Must complete a Higher Education application along with required supportive documentation
  • Must submit a copy of Delaware Nation Enrollment card
  • Must submit a letter of intent (this letter must be written by the applicant)
  • Must submit a letter of admission from the college
  • Must submit a copy of class schedule
  • Must submit a college/High School transcript
  • Must submit a copy of student aid report (SAR)
  • Must complete a financial need analysis (this form is in the application packet and it is to be completed by the financial aid office of the college they will attend)

COLLEGE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Description: The program’s main focus is to offer financial support to a student needing transportation costs, books expenses, lab expense, food, or what is deemed necessary for the student to reach their academic goals.
Award:
  • $1,000.00
Deadlines: Completed application must be submitted within the first 6 weeks of the semester start date.
Requirements:
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation Citizen
  • Must submit a Higher Education application before CFA application is considered
  • Must submit an application each semester funds are needed.
  • Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours and maintain a 2.5 GPA per semester

High School College Graduation Assistance Program
Description:

 The High School & College Graduation Assistance Program will be available to High School & College Senior’s to help with the following options ONLY:

  1. Senior Pictures up to $275
  2. Graduation Announcements up to $125
  3. Cap & Gown up to $100 
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled with the Delaware Nation
  • High School & College Senior must have at least a 2.5 overall GPA
  • APPLICATION DEADLINE: 30 days before graduation date.
  • Applications will be reviewed for completeness and eligibility. Application approvals will be done in writing by the Delaware Nation Education Office.
  • All checks will be made payable and mailed to the vendor.
  • NO REIMBURSEMENTS will be made for purchases made prior to this application.

High School & College Completion Stipend Program
Description:

 The program offers a completion incentive to enrolled Delaware Nation citizens for completing High School or College. 

Award:
  • High School $250
  • College $500
Deadlines: September 30th

Requirements:

 

  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must have graduated within the current Fiscal year of the program operation (October 1st– September 30th)

SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Description:

 The Secondary School Incentive program is for enrolled Delaware Nation children in the 5th-12th grades that meet the program criteria. The Program is on a first come first serve basis as funds are available.

  • FALL SEMESTER: Fall grades submission deadline January 15th

  • SPRING SEMESTER: Spring grades submission deadline August 31st

LENAPE WISE PROGRAM
Description: This program is for students that are enrolled in college part time, summer semester or enrolled as a post graduate student.
Award: $3,000
Deadlines: Completed application must be submitted within the first 2 weeks of the semester start date.

  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must submit an application with supportive documents
  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA per semester
  • Must submit grades at end of each semester
  • Must notify Social Services immediately if withdrawal from any class is submitted to college

ADULT VOCATIONAL PROGRAM
Description: This program is for Delaware enrolled citizens that need short-term training to obtain/enhance job skills or to acquire a General Education Diploma (GED).
Award: Max award is $3,000 per year (check is mailed to the school)
Deadlines:  Application must be submitted 30 days prior to start date
Requirements:
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must complete an application and submit all supportive documentation
  • Must submit letter of intent
  • Must submit letter of admission as proof of enrollment
  • Must submit tuition cost printout by the college financial office
  • Students are required to notify the Social Services Department if and when courses are dropped. If student drops a course or does not complete a course and a refund is not issued from school, the student will be required to pay back all funds used before being eligible to participate in program again.

DIRECT EMPLOYMENT
Description:

Delaware Nation Direct Employment Assistance Program provides a small stipend to enrolled Delaware Tribal citizens that have gained new employment. The job must be a full time position. This is a one-time only assistance per fiscal year. The stipend is for gas and lunch for work until first full paycheck is received.

Award:

Applicants with dependents will receive $25 per working day, applicants with no dependents will receive $20 per working day, with a max of 10 days.

Program funds will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Deadlines:

Application and supportive documents be submitted before receiving first full paycheck.

Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Complete this application and attach supportive documentation
  • If uniforms and/or special tools are needed for the new position, this program can assist up to

$500. Checks are made to the vendor only. Tribal citizen must provide a letter from employer stating the requirement of uniform and/or special tools.

  • Applicant must be:
    • A permanent full-time employee
    • Must have documentation of unemployment prior to being hired with current employer
      • A letter from your last employer’s Human Resource Department stating date of last day worked.
    • Must not have received 1st full paycheck from employer

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

    • Letter from new employer on their letterhead. The letter must state:
      • date of hire
      • number of working days per week
      • hourly rate for full time status
      • type of pay period (i.e., weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.)

      • an attached job description on company letterhead
    • If you require special tools or uniforms you must submit an invoice from where you will purchase your items. Checks will ONLY be made to vendor.

TRIBAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Description:

The Tribal Assistance Program is a general welfare assistance program. The application period begins October 1st and ends September 30th. This program operates on a first come first serve basis depending on availability of funds. Tribal citizens are eligible for this program once per fiscal year.

Award:

ASSISTANCE:

Tribal citizens must choose only one of the below listed options per fiscal year.

  • Clothing $300 Applicants are required to submit receipts for the items purchased.
  • Food $300

Unapproved grocery purchases include: makeup, jewelry, perfume, hair products, tobacco and alcohol products. Applicants are required to submit receipt for items purchased.

  • Utility $300

Tribal citizen must be 18 years old or older to receive utility assistance and attach a utility bill in the tribal citizen’s name. Be aware when submitting cut off notices for utilities: it will take 7-10 business days before a check will be mailed to utility vendor. Delaware Nation is not responsible for disconnections, late fees or reconnect fees.

HEALTH:

  • Glasses up to $400 for tribal citizens (0-59). Reimbursements are now allowable. A paid receipt/invoice must be attached to the application. Payment for glasses must occur in the current fiscal year.
Deadlines: None – Applications are taken October 1st – September 30th as long as funds are available
Requirements:
  • Please complete and sign the TAP application and submit all required documents.
  • All applications must have a bill or invoice in the tribal citizen’s name if you are applying for UTILITIES.
  • Minors (under 18) cannot apply for utilities.
  • Receipts must be submitted for clothing and food assistance purchases in order to be eligible for the next fiscal year.

LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP)
Description: Delaware Nation Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) grant program assists with home heating or cooling bills and/or energy assistance twice a year. LIHEAP assists with cooling in the summer and heating in the winter. Priority will be given to the elderly (60 and over), disabled, families with young children (5 and under), and homes with high energy burdens (10% or more). This program operates on a first come first serve basis until funds are exhausted.

Requirements:
  • Head of household or spouse must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Household cannot have received LIHEAP thru DHS or any other funding source that receives LIHEAP
  • Submit a completed LIHEAP application and supportive documentation
  • Provide income verification for all household members over the age of 18
  • Provide a copy of CDIB and social security cards for everyone in the household • Provide a copy of current utility bill in applicant’s name

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All supportive documentation must be submitted with an application to be considered for assistance.
  • Failure to report total household income may result in being disqualified from the program for one year.

COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM (CSBG)
Description: This small grant provides one elder activity and one youth activity once a year.
Deadlines:  None
Services Provided:

Elders have a choice of:

  1. Turkeys and blankets on Thanksgiving or
  2. Hams on Christmas or
  3. Fans during the summer.

The CSBG gives these items on a first come first serve basis.

The youth activity is held usually the 1st or 2nd week in August during the American Indian Exposition in Anadarko, Oklahoma.  The American Indian Exposition is a six day event that is held (Monday-Saturday).   The Delaware Nation CSBG program purchases fair bracelets for enrolled Delaware children ages 3-12 years old that attend the American Indian Exposition carnival.  The bracelets are given on a first come first serve basis.

Burial Assistance Program
Description:

Delaware Nation provides burial assistance for enrolled tribal citizens or those minors eligible to be enrolled (and not enrolled in any other tribe) up to $10,000. Eligibility must be determined by the enrollment department. Payment will be made directly to the funeral home selected. Assistance is for burial expenses and/or marker or monument. 

BURIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE: 

1. PREPAID BURIAL ASSISTANCE: A tribal citizen (age 60 or over) or diagnosed with a terminal illness, may obtain assistance to purchase an irrevocable contract burial plan with a funeral home of their choice. 

Required Documents: 

  • Copy of irrevocable contract with funeral home for cost of service 
  • Death Certificate (Family must request one for the tribe when the tribal citizen is deceased.) 
  • If applicable, a letter from the tribal citizen’s medical doctor stating the terminal diagnosis 

Application may be submitted at any time by the tribal citizen. 

2. BURIAL ASSISTANCE: A tribal citizen’s next of kin may obtain assistance with funeral arrangements at a funeral home of their choice. 

Required Documents: 

  • Invoice stating funeral home’s cost for service 
  • Death Certificate (Family must request one for the tribe when making funeral arrangements) 

Please submit application 90 days from the date of funeral service. 

FAMILY DINNER: 

  • Family Dinner allocation of $500 will be available to the family for food. The next of kin designated on the application will receive the check for this service. 
Deadlines: Application for burial assistance must be received by tribal office within ninety (90) days of the citizen’s death. (Please submit this application as soon as possible.)

CHILD CARE PROGRAM (CCDF)
Description: Provides day care financial assistance to enrolled Delaware Nation children under the age of 13. This program provides financial support to defray child care expense.
Deadlines:  None
Requirements:
  • Child(ren) must be enrolled, eligible to be enrolled, or whose parent is enrolled with a federally recognized tribe
  • Parent(s) must be working, attending college or vocational training
  • Child(ren) must be ages 0-12
  • Complete a Child Care application with supportive documentation
  • Must provide proof of employment or class schedule of school attending
  • The parent(s) must select the child care provider. The child care provider must be licensed by the state of Oklahoma and be approved or eligible to be approved by Delaware Nation
Responsibilities:
  • The parent(s) is responsible for completing and submitting an annual application to this office
  • Abide by the day and hours as specified in the day care plan for my child(ren)
  • To sign child(ren) attendance record every month
  • To never sign a blank attendance record
  • To make my co-payments on time to the child care provider
  • To make any payments to the care provider for days/hours over the agreed care plan
  • Parent/guardian MUST notify the Delaware Nation Child Care Coordinator of:
    • Change of facility or care provider
    • If child care services are no longer needed
    • Reasons for child not attending day care
    • Change of family income
    • Change in family size
    • Change of address and phone number

INDIAN CHILD WELFARE (ICW)
Description: The program primarily serves enrolled or eligible Delaware Nation citizens that reside within the state of Oklahoma. This program only monitors out of state cases.

  • Assists to prevent the breakup of Delaware Nation enrolled children and families at risk
  • Assists tribal families to find resources to retain children in the home
  • Monitors state courts in child custody proceedings involving Delaware Nation enrolled children
  • Assist parents to carry out court ordered obligations and treatment plans
  • Provides counseling for foster children in Delaware tribal custody
  • Provides counseling services to abusive and neglectful parents

PROMOTING SAFE & STABLE FAMILIES  (PSSF)
Description: To protect and promote the safety, permanence and well-being of children by providing preventive services and treatment services for children in care

  • Provide protective and preventive services, which will assist family members in achieving identified goals and outcomes from their court ordered treatment plans

College Prep Assistance Program
Description:

The Delaware Nation College Prep Assistance Program is pleased to offer enrolled Delaware Nation tribal citizens in grades 10th-12th an opportunity to receive assistance with the cost of ACT/SAT Test Prep. Students may receive up to $100 assistance towards the cost of classes (including online courses). All payments will be made directly to the test prep vendor. Cost cannot be reimbursed.

   
 
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen from 10th-12th grade in High School
  • Must choose either ACT or SAT (not both, this is a one-time only program per student)
  • Must participate in an accredited online test prep course or class offered at an educational institute

    REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

    If you fail to secure the documents listed below your application will be placed on pending status.

  • Letter of intent by applicant

  • Invoice for prep course (any charges exceeding $100 will be the responsibility of the tribal citizen)

ATTENTION:
  • The student/parent is responsible for completing and submitting the application and supportive documents to this office.
  • The student is responsible for scheduling and completing ACT/SAT prep courses and testing.
  • Please allow 10-14 days for processing. Once a check is received it will be mailed to the vendor with a copy of the submitted invoice. The tribal citizen can request the check be mailed directly to them if payment in hand is required at the time of services.

Dental Assistance Program Posted 6/7/2022
Description:

The Dental Assistance Program is a General Welfare Assistance program for Delaware Nation enrolled citizens (age 0-59) who need assistance with any dental services not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance or Indian Health Services. This program will be available to tribal citizens one-time per fiscal year up to $1,000.

This program WILL NOT pay for medical bills or past due balances.

All dental procedures must be performed by a licensed dental practice and within the fiscal year you are applying for.

Payment Process: For invoices submitted but have not yet been paid for or services not yet completed, payment will be made directly to the dental practice. If seeking reimbursement, invoices show the out of pocket payment made.

  • The following documents must be submitted with this application. If you fail to submit these documents, your application will be placed on pending status.

    Copy of Delaware Nation enrollment card

    Invoice or paid statement/receipt (for reimbursement) from dental office indicating procedure(s) performed and pricing to include any insurance payments and adjustments

Description:

The Prescription Assistance Program is a General Welfare Assistance program for Delaware Nation enrolled citizens (age 0-59) who need assistance with purchasing prescribed medications and durable medical equipment (including copays) that are not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance or Indian Health Services. This program will be available to tribal citizens one-time per fiscal year up to $500.

This program WILL NOT pay for medical bills or cover cost associated with medicinal/recreational marijuana.

All prescription medications or durable medical equipment must be prescribed by a licensed physician.

    ✓ Invoice or paid statement/receipt (for reimbursement) from pharmacy or medical supply store indicating out-of-pocket costs for prescription medications or prescribed durable medical equipment only

ATTENTION: Delaware Nation will only reimburse or make payment for out-of-pocket costs. Reimbursements cannot be made for any portion paid by Medicaid/Medicare, private insurance, state health plans or Indian Health Services. If applying for multiple prescription reimbursements, please submit all paid invoices/receipts at one-time. Each citizen will be reimbursed one-time up to $500 each fiscal year. You will not be eligible in the same fiscal year (October 1st-September 30th).
