HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAM
Description: This program is for enrolled Delaware Nation citizens that are interested in obtaining an undergraduate (Associates or Bachelors) degree from an accredited institution.
Award:

Max award per semester $1,250 (check mailed to the school)

Deadlines:

For the academic school year (fall-spring) — June 1st
Spring Semester — November 1st

Requirements:
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation Citizen
  • Must complete a Higher Education application along with required supportive documentation
  • Must submit a copy of Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB card)
  • Must submit a letter of intent (this letter must be written by the applicant)
  • Must submit a letter of admission from the college
  • Must submit a copy of class schedule
  • Must submit a college/High School transcript
  • Must submit a copy of student aid report (SAR)
  • Must complete a financial need analysis (this form is in the application packet and it is to be completed by the financial aid office of the college they will attend)

PELL INELIGIBLE INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Description: This program is for higher education students that are not eligible for federal aid such as a pell grant for attending a college/university.
Award:

Max award for students per semester is $2,000 (check mailed to the school)

For the academic school year (fall-spring) — June 1st

Spring Semester — November 1st

Requirements:
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must be a full time student (12 credit hours)
  • Must apply for the Delaware Nation Higher Education Program (student is required to apply for this program each semester – fall and spring)

COLLEGE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Description: The program’s main focus is to offer financial support to a student needing transportation costs, books expenses, lab expense, food, or what is deemed necessary for the student to reach their academic goals.
Award:
  • Max award per semester is $500.00

  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation Citizen
  • Must submit a Higher Education application before CFA application is considered
  • Must submit an application each semester funds are needed.
  • Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours and maintain a 2.5 GPA per semester

LENAPE WISE PROGRAM
Description: This program is for students that are enrolled in college part time, summer semester or enrolled as a post graduate student.
Award:

Max award per semester is $1,000 (check is mailed to the school)

  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must submit an application with supportive documents
  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA per semester

ADULT VOCATIONAL PROGRAM
Description: This program is for Delaware enrolled members that need short-term training to obtain/enhance job skills or to acquire a General Education Diploma (GED).
Award:

Max award is $3,000 per year (check is mailed to the school)

Deadlines:  Application must be submitted 30 days prior to start date
Requirements:
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must complete an application and submit all supportive documentation
  • Must submit letter of intent
  • Must submit letter of admission as proof of enrollment

DIRECT EMPLOYMENT
Description: The program provides a small stipend to enrolled Delaware Nation citizens that have gained full time new employment.  The job must be full time position.  This is a one-time only assistance (stipend).
Award: Tribal citizens with dependants will receive $19 per day; tribal citizens without dependants will receive $16 per day. The stipend is for gas and lunches for work until first full paycheck is received. If uniforms and/or special tools are needed for new position this program can assist up to $300 (checks are made to vendor)
Deadlines:  Application and supportive documents must be submitted two (2) weeks prior to first full paycheck

  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must submit a completed application along with supportive documentation
  • Must submit a letter from new employer on their letterhead indicating:
    • date of hire

SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Description: The Secondary School Student Incentive program is for enrolled Delaware Nation citizens in the 5th-12th grades that meet the program criteria.
Deadlines:
  • January 1st for fall semester
  • June 1st for spring semester
  • August 31st cut-off date for late fall and spring requests for the whole academic school year

TRIBAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Description: The Tribal Assistance Program (former 10% Social Services program) is to provide assistance once a year to tribal citizens. This program operates on fiscal years (not calendar years). Our fiscal year runs October 1st to September 31st. This program is on a first come first serve basis. All checks will be made to the vendor for utilities, glasses, hearing aids and denture assistance.
Award:

Tribal Citizens:

  • Clothing $75
  • Food $75
  • Utilities up to $150 Must attach utility bill.  No minors can apply for utility assistance
  • Glasses $200 for tribal citizens (0-59)

Tribal Citizens (60 and older):

  • Glasses $500 every year
  • Dentures $3,000 every 5 years. 
  • Hearing Aids $3,000 every 5 years.

Requirements:
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must submit a bill in the tribal citizen’s name
  • Must submit an invoice for UTILITIES, DENTURES, or GLASSES (if not your application will be placed on pending status)

CHILD CARE PROGRAM (CCDF)
Description: Provides day care financial assistance to enrolled Delaware Nation children under the age of 13. This program provides financial support to defray child care expense.
Deadlines:  None
Requirements:
  • Child(ren) must be or eligible to be enrolled with a federal recognized tribe
  • Parent(s) must be working, attending college or vocational training
  • Child(ren) must be 0-12 years old
  • Must submit a complete Child Care application annually with supportive documentation
  • Must provide proof of employment or class schedule of school attending
  • Must submit a state licensed child care provider
Responsibilities:
  • Must abide by the day and hours as specified in the day care plan for child(ren)
  • Must sign child(ren) attendance record every month (never sign a blank attendance record)
  • Must make co-payments on time to the child care provider
  • Must make any payments to the care provider for days/hours over the agreed care plan
  • MUST notify the Delaware Nation Child Care Coordinator of the following:
      • Change of facility or care provider
      • If child care services is no longer needed
      • Reasons for child not attending day care
      • Change of family income
      • Change in family size
      • Change of address and phone number
Required Documents:

If you fail to secure the documents listed below your file will be placed on pending status

  • Copy of CDIB’s and/or pending enrollment letter for each child and parent/guardian
  • Copy of the past month’s income to include paystubs, child support, alimony, or any other source of income
  • Copy of school and/or training schedule for parent/guardian
  • Updated immunization records for each applicant
  • Denial letter for child care services from DHS
  • Copy of day care provider license

LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP)
Description: This program is income based. The head of household must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen. Funds are available on a first come first serve basis.

  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation Citizen
  • Must not have received LIHEAP thru DHS or any other funding source that receives LIHEAP
  • Must complete a LIHEAP application with supportive documentation.
  • Must provide income verification for household.
  • Must provide a copy of CDIB  and social security cards for everyone in the household
  • Must provide a copy of the current utility bill in tribal citizen’s name

INDIAN CHILD WELFARE (ICW)
Description: The program primarily serves enrolled or eligible Delaware Nation citizens that reside within the state of Oklahoma. This program only monitors out of state cases.
Deadlines:  None
Services Provided:
  • Assists to prevent the breakup of Delaware Nation enrolled children and families at risk
  • Assists tribal families to find resources to retain children in the home
  • Monitors state courts in child custody proceedings involving Delaware Nation enrolled children
  • Assist parents to carry out court ordered obligations and treatment plans
  • Provides counseling for foster children in Delaware tribal custody
  • Provides counseling services to abusive and neglectful parents

CHILDREN & FAMILY SERVICES  (CFSP)
Mission: To enhance the quality of life for children, youth and families by utilizing educational tools to improve positive outcomes that is beneficial and effective for human development

  • Protect the rights of Delaware Nation children and families who fall under the purview of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA)
  • To assist families those are involved through Indian Child Welfare and or Department of Human Services

PROMOTING SAFE & STABLE FAMILIES  (PSSF)
Description: To protect and promote the safety, permanence and well-being of children by providing preventive services and treatment services for children in care

  • Provide protective and preventive services, which will assist family members in achieving identified goals and outcomes from their court ordered treatment plans

COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM (CSBG)
Description: This small grant provides one elder activity and one youth activity once a year.
Deadlines:  None
Services Provided:

Elders have a choice of:

  1. Turkeys and blankets on Thanksgiving or
  2. Hams on Christmas or
  3. Fans during the summer.

The CSBG gives these items on a first come first serve basis.

The youth activity is held usually the 1st or 2nd week in August during the American Indian Exposition in Anadarko, Oklahoma.  The American Indian Exposition is a six day event that is held (Monday-Saturday).   The Delaware Nation CSBG program purchases fair bracelets for enrolled Delaware children ages 3-12 years old that attend the American Indian Exposition carnival.  The bracelets are given on a first come first serve basis.

Burial Assistance Program

Description:

Delaware Nation assists with burial expenses for deceased tribal citizens. This assistance can be used for burial expenses and/or marker or monument.

  • Prepaid Burial Assistance may be obtained by a tribal citizen who has been given a medical diagnosis of a terminal disease. In this case, a copy of the irrevocable contract burial plan must be provided with application.

Payments Made:

  • A maximum payment of $6,500 is authorized for burial assistance for deceased tribal citizens. (The burial check will be made to the funeral home selected.)
  • $250 is allotted to the family for food for a memorial meal (The next of kin on the application will receive the check.)

Deadlines:

Application for burial assistance must be received by tribal office within ninety (90) days of the citizen’s death. (Please submit this application as soon as possible.)

Requirements:

  • Must submit an invoice of funeral home costs
  • Must submit a Death Certificate (Please request one for the tribe when making funeral arrangements)
  • If applicable, must submit a copy of the irrevocable contract burial plan

Elder Assistance Program
Description:

The Delaware Nation Tribal Assistance Program (Formerly 10% Program) will be assisting eligible Delaware Nation elders (60 years or older) with one of the following.•

  • HEARING AID up to $3,000 every 5 years
  • DENTURES up to $3,000 every 5 years
  • GLASSES up to $500 every year

  • Invoice from doctor and/or clinic (No Reimbursements will be made)

Description: The High School & College Graduation Assistance Program will be available to High School & College Senior’s to help with graduation costs.
Award:

$500 for the following options ONLY:

  • Senior Pictures up to $275
  • Graduation Announcements up to $75
  • Cap & Gown up to $50
  • Test Prep up to $100
  • (All checks will be made to vendors)
Deadlines: 30-45 days prior to graduation date
Requirements:
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must have at least a 2.5 overall GPA
  • Must have no more than 5 unexcused absences in one semester for High School Seniors

High School Student College Prep Program

Description:

The Delaware Nation High School Student College Prep Program will assist eligible Delaware Nation citizens currently in high school (9-12 grade). This program will provide an opportunity for high school students with a 3.0 (or above) GPA to get a jump start on the college experience.

The program will cover college prep classes, college training, college summit, or college camp fees.

Award:

Maximum award of $1,500.00 per student. All checks will be made to the college or university to cover the expenses for student.

Requirements for College training, summits or camps:

 

  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must complete a Highschool Student College Prep Application
  • Must submit a copy of current report card or High School transcript with GPA
  • Must submit a letter of intent written by applicant
  • Must submit 300 word essay written by the student; which includes:
    • How old is the applicant and what grade?
    • What type of class, training, summit or camp the applicant will be attending?
    • What are the educational goals of the applicant?
    • How will this help prep for college?
    • Will this help obtain college credits?

Requirements for College Prep Courses:

For applicants taking college courses while in high school, the following will need to be submitted with application:

  1. Tuition cost from the college/university for classes the applicant is enrolled
  2. Class Schedule
  3. Copy of High School transcript
  4. Copy of CDIB card

Medical Assistance Program
Description: This program is for enrolled Delaware citizens that need assistance with purchasing durable medical equipment and/or prescriptions that is not covered by Medicare, private insurance or Indian Health Services. This assistance will be available to tribal citizens once a year. This program WILL NOT pay for medical bills.

Requirements:
  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen
  • Must submit a copy of CDIB card
  • Must submit a copy of prescription from the physician
  • Must submit a statement from the physician, clinic or hospital explaining your injury and/or disability
  • Must submit proof of income
  • Must submit proof of insurance or Medicare

ATTENTION: (Applicants must have denial statements from insurance, Indian Health Services or other medical facility in order to receive services. Denial must state that prescribed medical equipment or prescriptions are not covered by insurance or Indian Health Services.)
