ANADARKO, OK — A basic needs drive for kids took place on Saturday, October 23, 2021, as part of the Caddo County Kids, Kites & Fright event held at the Anadarko Municipal Airport. The “Be A Super Hero” 5K Costume Fun Run/Walk a 1-mile event was a tremendous success with local partners and their donations. Partners include First Physicians WFM, Delaware Nation, Wichita Health & Fitness, and Communities In Schools of America student volunteers. Delaware Nation President Deborah Dotson presented a donation check to the cause. The 5K Fun Run began at 8:30 AM, followed by the 1-Mile walk. There was no fee to register for the 5K Fun Run or 1-Mile Walk. Communities in Schools (CIS) of Mid-America™ collected donations of basic needs items, hygiene products, or kid’s Halloween costumes.
Runners and walkers were encouraged to participate in costume during their race. Prizes went to the top race finishers and those with the best costumes. Participants received free socks, underwear, leggings in all kids sizes from children’s size 4 to adult XXL. The day of registration started at 7:15 AM. Online registration was available at bit.ly/Anadarko2021. The theme for the event was “Be a Superhero to our Kids!” Other festival activities included a petting zoo, kite flying, rock wall, bounce house, car & motorcycle show, corn hole tournament, food trucks, hot air balloon release, laser tag, live music, and more!
Delaware Nation would like to thank CIS of Mid-America™ for their continued support in the local community.
