2020 CARES Elders General Welfare Assistance Program

By the approval of the Delaware Nation Executive Committee, it has been decided that there is a great need to provide general welfare assistance to Delaware Nation Elder Citizens who have been affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic due to increase grocery prices. An elder is defined as an enrolled tribal citizen who is 60 years old or older as of date of application.

This program shall provide assistance through the 2020 CARES Act funding in the form of a Wal-Mart gift card to purchase groceries, medical supplies/equipment and cleaning supplies Assistance shall be available on a monthly basis during the COVID-19 Pandemic or until the CARES funds are no longer available. Assistance shall be $150 for a household of one, $300 for a household of two, and $450 for a household of three or more or where the elder is supporting/raising children.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please ensure proof of enrollment is submitted with application. Eligible applicants are able to receive assistance (3) times for this program as long as funding is available. This program shall provide assistance through the 2020 CARES Act funding in the form of a Wal-Mart gift card to purchase groceries, medical supplies/equipment and cleaning supplies. Assistance shall be limited to one per household as a one time assistance. Assistance shall be $150 for a household of one, $300 for a household of two, $450 for a household of three and $600 for a household of four and more.

2020 CARES Pharmaceutical Assistance Program

Due to COVID-19, assistance with the cost of needed medical prescriptions for enrolled Delaware Nation Tribal Citizens (NATION WIDE) will be available up to $300.00 for out of pocket expenses. Please provide all needed information to be reimbursed for these expenses. This program will be available every month as long as CARES funds are available.

2020 CARES Medical Transportation Program

Due to COVID-19, assistance with the cost of transportation to and from needed medical appointments for enrolled Delaware Nation Tribal Citizens (NATION WIDE) will be available at 57.5 cents per mile (GSA rates). Please list all dates for the month. A separate application must be completed for each clinic location. This funding will be available each month as long as CARES funding is available.

2020 CARES Housing & Utility Assistance Program

The purpose of the Delaware Nation 2020 CARES-Tribal Housing and Utility Assistance Program is to provide emergency subsidy assistance with Rent, Mortgage and Utilities in order to help families avoid overcrowding, homelessness, eviction and or disconnection of utilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 CARES- Tribal Housing and Utility Assistance Program will provide assistance up to $1,500.00 to eligible applicants. In order to be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an enrolled citizen of the Delaware Nation.
  • Reside within the United States.
  • Must meet the 100% United States National Median Income Limit Guidelines (see chart below). Families that have experienced layoffs or have been furloughed shall have priority over other applicants. This program will operate as a “first come, first served” program as long as funding is available).

  • Must have had an interruption of income such as reduced employment hours or wages, layoffs, or have been furloughed that resulted in a loss of wages, or provide proof of how household has been affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  • Applicants applying for assistance with mortgage, rent payments and/or utilities must reside within the unit at the time of application process.
  • Payments shall not be made for services where an applicant has already been evicted from the rental unit or is in foreclosure. Payments shall not be made for units that are involved in court proceedings.
  • Delaware Nation Citizens applying for assistance with rent or mortgage payments must be listed on titles and leases.
  • Utility bills submitted for assistance must have name of the Delaware Nation Citizen on the bill provided.
  • Assistance for eligible applicants shall only be paid for the monthly bill amount noted on statement for the most current 2020 month in which the applicant is applying not to exceed the ceiling amount of $1,500.00. Bills and statements submitted with application must be dated within 30 days of the date of application.
  • This is a one-time assistance for eligible applicants, unless otherwise approved by the Delaware Nation Executive Committee.
  • Applicant’s cannot apply for services that have been assisted with other federal programs (i.e. LIHEAP).Services cannot be duplicated.
  • Applicants must submit a completed application with all required supporting documents before the application can be processed to make a determination of eligibility. Documents required are including but not limited to proof of tribal enrollment, income verification, verification of required rent charge from landlord, mortgage payment, utility bills and/cut off notices, etc. (see application checklist for complete list of required documentation).

Payments shall be made to vendors only (i.e. landlords, utility companies, etc. No payments shall be made to applicants nor will reimbursements be paid to applicants.

Subsequent 2020 CARES Housing & Utility Assistance Program

The Delaware Nation Executive Committee has approved a 2nd and 3rd distribution through the 2020 CARES Housing & Utility Assistance Program for eligible applicants. Updated income verification and bills must be submitted with applications. Also, if household composition has changed since the last application, documentation must be submitted for new household members (i.e. birth certificate or state ID, social security cards and proof of tribal enrollment.

Student Assistance Program

PURPOSE:
This program will provide educational assistance funds for COVID-19 impacted families and students. All resources are to be used to provide technology, school supplies and clothing resources for Delaware Nation students nation-wide. Please review the eligibility requirements listed below BEFORE proceeding to the next step.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
This Educational Assistance Program for COVID-19 impacted families and students nation-wide is to provide technology resources, school supplies and needed clothing for Delaware Nation students attending educational classes from Pre-K through 12th Grades between the dates of July 1, 2020 and December 30, 2020. Each child may only be reported by one applicant and must be the custodial parent or guardian of the child. Checks will be disbursed in the child’s name. Any inconsistent or missing data may delay processing, and further action taken to process will necessitate additional time before processing and payment is complete.

Application dates:

  • July 22, 2020 through August 31, 2020
  • Applications may be submitted from July 22 until August 31. An application must be submitted for each school-age child in your household. Processing will be completed after all information is verified on the application.

AMOUNT OF ASSISTANCE (total assistance $700.00):

  • Technology/School Supply Assistance: $500.00
  • Clothing Assistance: $200.00
  • Receipts will be required for purchases. Please submit electronically or by mail. Receipts must equal the total amount of the assistance provided; $500 for technology/school supplies and $200 for clothing.

Age: Children between ages of four (4) and eighteen (18) years of age and attending Pre-K through 12th grade

Household Information:
Provide the name and supplemental information for the parent or guardian of Delaware Nation children in the household if the child is 18, they may apply with their name.

Higher Education/Vocational Students

PURPOSE:
This program will provide educational assistance funds for COVID-19 impacted families and students. Direct Employment Assistance Program

PURPOSE:
This program will provide assistance funds for COVID-19 impacted citizens who have obtained new employment due to closures, layoffs, or furloughs. All resources are to be used to aid with purchasing uniforms/clothing, tools,special footwear, and or required supplies/equipment for new employment. Please review the eligibility requirements listed below BEFORE proceeding to the next step.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
This assistance program is for COVID-19 impacted Delaware Nation citizens nationwide. Applications can be obtained on the Delaware Nation website or by calling 405-247-2448 and may be submitted by email, fax or mailed to the Delaware Nation Social Services office. Applicants must submit the application within 1 week of the new hire date and/or before their first paycheck. Applicants must provide a letter from the employer indicating the new hire date, date of first paycheck, full-time/part-time status and need for any required uniforms/clothing, special footwear, and/or tools/equipment. Applicants must provide an invoice/quote of supplies needed.

APPLICATION DATES:
August 12, 2020 to December 1, 2020while funding is available. Applications may be submitted from August 12thuntil December 1st. Processing will be completed after all information is verified on the application.

Child Care Assistance Program

PURPOSE:
This program will provide assistance for COVID-19 impacted families with a one-time monthly family child care payment up to $500.Payment will be made directly to the licensed child care provider. Please review the eligibility requirements listed below BEFORE proceeding to the next step.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
This Child Care Assistance Program for COVID-19 impacted families nationwide,will provide a one-time monthly family child care payment up to $500.Checks will be disbursed to the licensed child care provider. Applications can be obtained on the Delaware Nation website or by calling 405-247-2448 and may be submitted by email, fax or mailed to the Delaware Nation Social Services office. Applicants must provide the name and contact information for the licensed child care provider and an invoice from the provider indicating the monthly payment amount. All information will be verified with the child care provider. Any inconsistent or missing data may delay processing, and further action taken to process will necessitate additional time before processing and payment is complete.

  • Provider: Child care providers must be licensed providers within their state. This includes child care centers and home daycares. Proof of provider license is required.
