Truman D. Picard Scholarship Announcement

For Native American/Alaskan Natural Resource Students

Deadline: Friday, March 21, 2025, 5:00 p.m. PT
Award: $3,000 for college students studying Natural Resources (number of awards varies per year)
  $4,000 for college students studying Forestry or Fire
  $3,000 for grad students & graduating college seniors applying/accepted for grad school studying Natural Resources
  $4,000 for grad students & graduating college seniors applying/accepted for grad school studying Forestry or Fire
  $2,000 for graduating senior high school students studying Natural Resources, Forestry or Fire
Purpose: The Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program is dedicated to the support of Native American students pursuing a higher education in Natural Resources. Preference will be given to students whose degree or area of  study directly involves management of Forest Resources. The $4,000 award is contingent upon college and graduate students being accepted in a school for a Forestry or Fire degree.

Native American Natural Resource Research Scholarship

The Intertribal Timber Council (ITC), in partnership with the USDA Forest Service Research and Development is pleased to announce scholarship opportunities for Native American graduate students who are planning or
currently conducting tribally relevant research in a natural resource issue.

Deadline: December 2, 2024, 5:00 p.m. PST
Award: Varies, not to exceed $5,000
Purpose: The ITC Research Scholarship is designed to support tribally relevant, natural resource-based research
being conducted by Native American scholars enrolled in a graduate program.

**Delaware Nation citizens applying for assistance will need to ensure their current address listed on applications corresponds to the address on file with the Enrollment Department in order to receive services. If the addresses are not the same, the applicant will need to update their address with Enrollment before any assistance can be provided.**

2024 General Welfare Food Stipend Program
•PURPOSE AND AMOUNT OF ASSISTANCE: This one-time assistance to tribal citizens 18years of age or older, provides a $300 General Welfare Food Stipend. This assistance is available to adult tribal citizens nationwide.

•APPLICATION PROCESS:
Please submit completed and signed application to the Delaware Nation Social Services Office.Completed applications will be processed in the order they are received. Please allow 10-14 days for a check to be issued and mailed once the application has been processed.

•REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR PROCESSING:
A completed and signed application with a copy of your enrollment card.
•START & DEADLINE DATES: This funding will be provided from February 19, 2024 and will remain open until September 30, 2024 (no exceptions).
•APPLICATION SUBMISSION: Applications can be obtained on the Delaware Nation website or by calling 405-247-2448 ext. 1141. The tribal citizen’s application with documentation may be submitted through one of the following:

First Time Driver’s Assistance Program
Description:

Delaware Nation provides  for enrolled tribal citizens ages 15-19 to receive assistance with the cost of an accredited Driver’s Education Course. Applicants may receive a one-time assistance up to $500 towards the cost of classes.

1.REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Completed and signed application (applicants 18 and over must sign the application)
    Delaware Nation enrollment card
  • Invoice for accredited driver’s education course (any charges exceeding $500 will be the responsibility of the tribal citizen)
  • If applying for reimbursement, a paid receipt and itemized invoice dated October 1, 2023 or later

2. REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be an enrolled Delaware Nation citizen age 15-19
  • Must be a first-time driver and not yet received state learner’s permit or driver’s license
  • Must participate in an accredited driver’s education course

3. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The student/parent is responsible for completing and submitting the application and supportive documents to this office.
  • The student is responsible for scheduling and completing the driver’s education courses and testing.
  • Please allow 10-14 days for processing. Once a check is received it will be mailed to the vendor with a copy of the submitted invoice. The tribal citizen can request the check be mailed directly to them if payment in hand is required at the time of services. Reimbursement for an accredited online course is available with a paid receipt and itemized invoice dated after October 1, 2023. It is the parent/student’s responsibility to verify if the online course is accredited before payment.
